My name is Karen Looney-Masterson, LPC, LCADC, CAMF. I started Bridge to Change in 2010 with the intention to support my clients in developing their voice, find pride in their accomplishments and take responsibility for the changes they want to make. I work collaboratively with my clients on personal empowerment, self acceptance and the development of self-esteem.
My approach is eclectic. I will work with you to explore the presenting issue and find creative ways to effectively understand the core issues and provide evidence based treatment suggestions.

Leadership Seminars: Adolescent
Learn how to cultivate leadership qualities by examining the lives of wise women and men, past and present who have lived extraordinary lives. Learn the attributes and philosophies of people who have transformed their passion into their lifeās work so you can acquire concrete skills to nurture your potential and move you to greatness.
Self-Esteem Building: Adolescent
Research reveals that low self-esteem is the foundation for anger issues, unhealthy and abusive relationships, addiction, bullying and being bullied, and eating disorders. Learn the definition of self- esteem and the difference between conditional and non- conditional self esteem. Explore the core beliefs that are linked to self distain and depression. Develop core affirming thoughts that will lead to unconditional self worth and confidence.
Womenās Discussion Groups
This group is designed for women to meet and discuss issues that are on their minds relating to self, relationships, family, body, spirituality as well as universal issues that face women everyday. The group will help women to sort through the static and mixed messages that target women and foster insecurity which distracts them from their goals. This process will help women to reconnect with themselves and tap into their strengths to find their energy and personal power.
Life Coaching: Adolescent & Adults
This is a one-on-one session designed to educate, guide and support. This program encourages the client to form and achieve goals in a systematic way by providing a new skill set to help reach oneās full potential. The Five Stages of Change model is used to help motivate the client to make the desired changes while working through the barriers and resistance common in this process. Positive energy, conversation and reflection, partnered with vision, clarity and clear, concise steps are the hallmark to change.
Emotional Intelligence: Individual & Couples
Emotional intelligence is a term which was coined by Daniel Goleman who has challenged the idea that conventional IQ is not the only measurement of oneās intelligence. Harvardās Howard Gardner has identified the different intelligences and has redefined and broadened the scope of our traditional idea of a personās ability to take in and sort information. This program is designed to help to understand how you learn and how it plays out in your style of communication. This program will provide tools and more effective ways to communicate with the people at work, home and social life.
Social Skill Building: Adolescents & Adults
Social skill building is a group that focuses on the skills that enhance relationships both personally, professionally and socially. This group addresses topics such as problem solving skills, communication styles, manners, social cues, personal care, time management and financial budgeting to name a few. This group approaches these sensitive areas with acceptance, compassion and humor always focusing on the clientās strengths. Art projects and music are tools often used during this group.
Parent Classes
Parents and caregivers will come together to discuss parenting dilemmas and share the pressing issues parents are facing today. The group will learn about different parenting techniques and research based parenting skills. These skills will help foster confidence which will empower and provide a fresh new perspective.
After Aftercare: Adolescent
Where do I go from here? After completing alcohol and and drug rehabilitation and aftercare, new issues emerge and support is needed. This group meets and discusses the feelings and issues that surface for the newly recovering person. This group provides new ways to cope with life on lifeās terms.
Art Expression: Adolescent
Art Expression is a group that fosters self-awareness and self-love through the arts. This group encourages self expression by using art and music as a vehicle for self discovery in an open and easy going atmosphere where an individual is encouraged to freely express the self by way of creativity
Aging Well
This group is designed to help you develop your definition of aging well. This group will explore the many aspects and definitions society and the media challenges us with on a daily basis. This group will continue the conversation about living your best life and provide tools to effectively achieve your goals.
Life After Bariatric Surgery
This group meets and discusses the challenges and feelings surrounding food related issues. This group will provide support and new ways to cope with these new life style changes.
